Our Values "PRIDE: Participation, Respect, Integrity, Determination, Environment" are the foundation for creating an environment where our learners can feel connected and confident. We embrace the Tuakana Teina philosophy through our House and School-wide Ambassador, House Captains and Mediator opportunities, which alongside our learning programmes, actively nurture our younger learners while simultaneously cultivating a sense of working in teams, taking responsibility, growing leadership and community among our senior learners (Matoiahiko). The PB4L approach guides our behavioural expectations within the school. We have a desire to create a sense of Hauoro in all our learners, ensuring they feel connected and confident.

OPS Staff
Dear Parents and Caregivers,
As we approach a very busy period of the term, we have several important updates and reminders to share with you.
1. Dance-Off Details & Preparation
Dance-Off Event: The Dance-Off is taking place this coming Wednesday. A detailed newsletter was sent home recently; please check your child’s bag to ensure you have received this information.
Final Practice (Tuesday): Please send your child to school with the specific shoes they will be wearing for the performance so they can practice comfortably in them.
2. Snow sports & Pass Information
Participation Notices: Please return your child’s snowsports notice as soon as possible to confirm whether or not they will be participating.
Turoa Passes: Please navigate to the Forms section of our school app to provide details regarding your child's ski pass so we can finalise these arrangements for you.
3. Health Notice:
Head Lice
We have had a few reported cases of head lice in our space. We kindly ask that you check your child’s hair at your earliest convenience. If you require any treatment products, please let us know and we will happily send some home with your child.
Washing hands
It is that time of year again where there is lots of bugs going around, we would appreciate your support in making sure your child practices good hand washing hygiene at school and at home, this includes making sure your child's fingernails are clean.
4. Uniforms and Lost Property
Labelling Gear: Unnamed uniform items and shoes are incredibly difficult to return to their rightful owners. Please ensure all items of your child's uniform are clearly labeled with their name.
Unclaimed Shoes: We currently have a collection of unclaimed shoes sitting out on our deck. If your child is missing a pair, please encourage them to check this area.
Thank you for your continued support and cooperation in keeping our school community organised and running smoothly.
Regards
Tasha and Amy

TOI Wearable Arts judges selections are in!
Good evening TOI students and whānau,
The TOI Wearable Arts judges have made their decisions, and wow, what an incredibly difficult task it must have been! The creativity, imagination, and effort shown across all of the entries was absolutely outstanding, and the judges were blown away by the quality of the designs submitted from around the country.
We are especially proud to announce that out of our 15 school submissions, FIVE garments have been selected to be showcased on stage at TOI 2026, an amazing achievement!
A huge congratulations to the following designers and costumes:
✨ Miss Eva Green by Alexis Fredricksen
✨ TIE-d up! by Harper Gunnell
✨ So Squishy by Hetty Stuckey
✨ Chinese Dancing Dragon by Flynn Macleod, Alexander Young, Alexander (Turtle) Kumeroa-Ruri, and Taylor Williamson
✨ Heart of the Earth by Oscar Moody
I will be sending out another form shortly for the parents/caregivers of these students to complete, as further information is required. Please also ensure that the image release form has been completed and signed, as costumes will not be able to participate without this permission.
What an incredible accomplishment for these students and for our school community!
To every student who entered, thank you for throwing yourselves into such a creative and ambitious challenge. TOI is a huge undertaking, and it was inspiring to see so many imaginative ideas brought to life. Even if your garment was not selected for the TOI stage, your hard work and creativity deserve to be celebrated, and we are looking at ways to showcase all of the amazing finished garments within the school.
Congratulations again to everyone involved; we are so proud of you all!
Miss Wilson
